Human Longevity Inc., founded in 2013 by three forward-thinking scientists, is dedicated to improving healthcare using genetic information and advanced technologies. Their goal is to prevent or delay diseases such as cardiovascular disease, cancer and dementia through precise data analysis. By doing so, they hope to help people live healthy lives for significantly longer.
Over recent years, the company has gone through various phases, with the focus sometimes shifting from large-scale scientific explorations to offering medical services to affluent clients. Since 2019, Dr Wei-Wu He has been leading the company and bringing the original scientific ambition back to the fore. He explains that collecting long-term health data from tens of thousands of people has yielded many insights in recent years.
Alongside genetic testing, Human Longevity uses various examinations, such as MRI scans and blood analyses, to obtain a complete picture of an individual's health. By combining this data with artificial intelligence, they are developing increasingly better disease prediction methods. This approach can, for example, help to signal an impending heart attack early and thus save lives.
What is important is that new technologies are often expensive at first, but costs fall rapidly through innovation. For example, it is now possible to have a complete genome analysed for a few hundred euros, whereas previously this cost tens of thousands of euros. As a result, in the future it will become more accessible to monitor personal health accurately and tackle diseases earlier.
These developments make it possible to take more control of your own health and thus actively contribute to healthier ageing.
