2060 Foundation stimulates investments in healthy ageing

The 2060 Foundation focuses on promoting techniques and investments that help us age without disease. Their mission is to counteract ageing as much as possible before the year 2060. In practice, it appears that directly investing in advanced ageing research is still not widely accepted by society and politics. Therefore, the foundation is opting for an intermediary step.

This intermediate step is the stimulation of preventive healthcare. This means, for example, healthier living, tailored screenings and targeted supplements. This approach is gaining more support because it is less invasive and fits better with current health systems. Governments and investors are showing increasing interest in this direction, which could gradually also free up money for innovations in the field of ageing.

Every year, the 2060 Foundation organises the Longevity Forum, a gathering where investors, scientists and startups discuss ideas and opportunities surrounding healthier living for longer. This has already resulted in new investments and collaborations. This year, they are focusing even more on involving investors. This is how the network grows and makes it easier to finance innovations that can ultimately improve the quality of life in old age.

Alongside the forum, there is also the 2060 Longevity Investment Club. This is a group of investors who together contribute financially to promising companies working on health in later life. By investing wisely in both preventive care and new biotechnologies, the 2060 Foundation aims to accelerate the better management of ageing in the future.

This approach shows that healthy ageing starts with understanding what is and isn't feasible. By first choosing broad measures that already help people now, the way can subsequently be paved for medical breakthroughs that rejuvenate life. This is an important step for anyone who wants to remain fit and independent later in life.
